Blog Post #6: Web Design Assignment
The website I created introduces the tradition of "Show & Tell" presentations at a certain thinly disguised independent research library in Chicago. I call it:
Show & Tells at the Bewberry Library.
By way of introduction, and to give a little background to my work, here's an excerpt from the "process document" I submitted as part of the assignment for LIS 753:
"Class presentations have a long tradition at the Bewberry Library, where they are affectionately referred to as Show & Tells. But the process of arranging and preparing for Show & Tells is often confusing and intimidating for instructors or speakers that are unfamiliar with the Bewberry.
My goal was to design a site that would 1) give a feel for the value of primary sources (e.g., early printed books, maps, manuscripts, &c.), 2) explain how to schedule a Show & Tell, 3) instruct the first-time or novice user of the library how to find materials in the library's collection for use in Show & Tells and 4) provide an FAQ sheet that could be distributed to students before or during the Show & Tell."
